No,the conclusion that it doesn’t work seems to rest on the Boulware study and the others that the above preprints address. But it was very small, so probably underpowered.

And one reason there are conspiracy theories is because of the irresponsibility of authors, peer reviewers and publishers that allowed the Lancet and NEMJ to print fraudulent papers that had to be immediately retracted. . .
