But 'militia' have legal as well as Constitutional definitions and implications. So it's not just about symbolism and language.

The second amendment hinges on the right to bear arms being bourne in service to an "organised militia" does it not? Technically, nobody outside Armed Forces and Organised Militia should carry firearms in USA from this understanding of the Constitution

What's now called the National Guard used to be called state militias (maybe a few still call themselves that?) but the term has definitely been watered down by right-wing terrorists calling selves militias
