Don't let anyone tell you good music isn't being made today. Sometimes you have to dig a bit deeper to find it. But it's out there. And it's waiting for you.

It's mostly old farts of my generation who think that there hasn't been any decent music produced since the 1970s or maybe the 1980s. They're wrong. What's really happened is that their musical tastes ossified decades ago.

Also, the old farts of my generation frequently forget that there was an awful lot of crap music produced in the 1960s-1980s. They just selectively forget it because the crap music didn't survive and doesn't still get played on the radio the way the good stuff still is.

At least most of the music from the 60s to early 90s survived and is still thriving. Most of today’s music will sadly be forgotten.

That’s because people in power are playing it. Don’t worry, your kids will one day bear Drake and The Weeknd on retro stations, too.

Yep. Twenty or thirty years from now... I still remember my growing shock when U2 and other bands I’d loved in college started showing up on classic rock stations back in the 1990s and early 2000s. I thought, “God, I’m old.”
