If you open casinos, strip-clubs, bars and restaurants, how can you justify closed schools? It boggles my mind. Rich kids are in school. Everyone needs to be in school. Life is not risk-free. It isn’t March. #COVID19

The fact that these other policies aren't wise doesn't mean opening schools is good. Even if you drive over the speed limit it doesn't mean you have to justify wearing a seatbelt.

Right, the answer then isn’t “well let’s take every stupid risk imaginable during a pandemic”, it’s “maybe we try to eliminate or mitigate these other risks, because we’re in an uncontrolled pandemic and we have yet to act on a national scale to decrease it’s prevalence”.

Not sure what’s worse: That his mind is boggled by the refusal of parents and teachers to come hang at their local CovidPalooza. or that somehow he thinks that the line “Rich kids are in school” is part of a good argument about anything.

Begs the real question: should we be reopening strip-clubs, restaurants, and bars, especially in places where the case rate is rising, or is stable but higher than it was in the spring/ summer? eg, Florida? https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage …

It makes the point that John Mandrola MD can't go to casinos or strip clubs because his children are not in school. Are you sure that is not what he wants it to say?

Sounds like they are proposing the closing of casinos, strip-clubs, bars and restaurants. A perfectly reasonable suggestion.
