"Surprisingly, the alleged falsehoods are not mentioned, making scientific discourse difficult", but here is my letter in @StanfordDaily defending @SWAtlasHoover, criticized by 98 Stanford faculty members, and his age-targeted #COVID19 strategy.https://www.stanforddaily.com/2020/09/16/letter-to-the-editor-scott-atlas-and-lockdowns/ …

Atlas is a ray of light in a dark world right now we need to support him . Good job

Atlas is nothing more than a radiologist cosplaying an epidemiologist and doing it poorly. He’s the Dunning-Kruger effect personified.

@gorskon I want to make the fallacy in your logic painfully clear to you as possible. Yes, this is in response to my tweet yesterday exemplifying exceptional industry standards upheld by plumbers vs those not upheld by NPs in healthcare. but that’s not good enough for you?

Here you tweet that since Dr. Atlas a Stanford trained Neuroradiologist is neither an infectious disease expert nor an epidemiologist, he has no business in stating an opinion on this epidemic. In fact, you go on to ridicule him and say he’s “cosplaying” even though he has much

more education and training to read scenitific data and to make an informed opinion, You want him to have training and background in epidemiology and infectious disease to boot. Yet Dr.Gorskon you show support “loose” standards for those who actually take care of patients.

Yes, I said it. Dr. Atlas is cosplaying an infectious disease epidemiologist and doing it badly. Whatever skills he has critically reading the radiology literature clearly didn’t translate to epidemiology and infectious disease.

Of course, arrogance is a major component of the Dunning-Kruger effect, and doctors often have arrogance in abundance. Too many of them too frequently assume that their mastery of one medical specialty qualifies them to pontificate about fields they have little or no training in.

When it’s just some doctor on Twitter or writing a blog, maybe it’s not that big a deal, but when a doctor like @SWAtlasHoover gains the ear of powerful, disaster often results.
