50μg/ml? Do they even realize how high a concentration that is? Is it even possible to achieve blood concentrations that high, and, even if it were, how toxic would such high concentrations be?https://twitter.com/SpiezLab/status/1305387359240966144 …

In our in-vitro study, SARS-CoV-2 was inactivated upon treatment with a high concentration of 50μg/ml of an Echinacea purpurea preparation. Hypothesis that the extract might be effective as prophylactic treatment, would have to be tested in-vivo. https://rdcu.be/b692N

Just as a comparison, peer reviewers don’t like the drug I’ve been studying because it requires a 10 μg/ml concentration in cell culture to work, and *that’s* considered high. We’d really like less than 1 μg/ml. Concentrations in the ng/ml range would be better.

Again, to be clear: The transfer of results of an in-vitro study to the effectiveness in humans is not scientifically compelling. Data from an in-vitro study aren't proof of the efficacy of an active ingredient in humans (in-vivo). Read the study: https://rdcu.be/b692N

But surely lower concentrations are more effective. Or does that only work if you do the special shaking and succussing on a leather bound Bible?
