I’ve noticed that, whenever I criticize acupuncture as the quackery based on prescientific mysticism and theatrical placebo that it is, inevitably some who claim to “hate woo” will express *considerable* displeasure.

So cringe-inducing! I always wanted House M.D. to take a swipe at acupuncture, but I don’t think the show ever went there. It categorized it with other obvious quackery at least once, but it didn’t actually tackle it directly.

I remember that episode and feeling the same disgust as you did.

The episode originally aired when I was a senior in high school, and, because I rarely missed the show then, I’m sure I must have seen it when it first aired. I don’t remember my reaction then. My disgust came when I saw it in reruns after I’d become a physician.

Yes, can't stand it whenever a Hollywood skeptic or non-believer always ends up wishy-washy about it. Because "you never know."
