In April Boseman did an Instagram video with encouraging words for his fans during the pandemic. People here and on Instagram mocked him and his weight loss and called him “Crack Panther.” He took the video down. #WadeOrmontWasRight

Wonder why he didn't use his platform to promote colon cancer screening

A suffering cancer patient is not obligated to become a public advocate, even if hers a celebrity and should not be judged negatively if he chooses not to.

Also, screening for colorectal cancer doesn’t generally start until age 50. The very young age Boseman got cancer at suggests the likelihood of a familial cancer, although it is true that colorectal cancer is being diagnosed at younger ages these days.

They moved it back to 45, 40 if your parents had polyps. Just had my first colonoscopy as a result. My ex died of colon cancer at 32 so I don't play around with that stuff.

Gorski is a surgical oncologist. Yes screening for colon cancer is different for people with a family history

I'm a follower because I love his e-work. Just saying that, as I had been told, they moved the screening ages back 5 years. Perhaps there is more than one guideline setting agency.

I’m a breast cancer surgeon; I’d forgotten about the change in colorectal screening guidelines.

Also, that age 45 guideline is @AmericanCancer. @CDCgov still says to start at age 50.https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/colorectal/basic_info/screening/index.htm …

This sounds like ACS breast cancer screening, rec every year at 45 instead of USPSTF guideling of every other year at 50. I'm less familiar w/colorectal cancer screening policy, is research that we are overscreening as with breast cancer?
