I just watched Fatal Attraction and thought the exact same thing. The pace was very slow.

Yes I think if you showed a modern day action or kids movie to someone from the 80s or earlier they’d not be able to follow the ‘plot’ and would get so dizzy with all the the microsecond frames.

IKR? I'm old enough to remember that some people complained that "The Empire Strikes Back" was too fast, nothing but nonstop action. I rewatched the movie when I got
@disneyplus after not having seen it in 15 years, and, yes, there's action, but its overall pacing seemed slow.

Action movies used to be edgier and based on novel ideas too. I can’t imagine that any of the Die Hards would be written the same way. Now everything has to be watered down to appeal to a global audience.

Now try 2001 A Space Odyssey.

It was boring in the 70s.

And movies in general almost never pass the hour and a half mark anymore sadly. Some of the best movies i've seen ran much longer that that, like Once Upon a Time in the West and a good case in point :https://twitter.com/AadGroeneveld1/status/1297466191972368386 …

Actually, a lot of action movies these days are *too* long, well over the two hour mark. Avengers:Endgame comes too mind, as do many others.

And they actually had a story. And characters with a modicum of depth.
-
Well, yes, there's that about many of the older action flicks.
