It's sad that more than six months into the #COVID19 pandemic, we still have to refute the conspiracy theory that #SARSCoV2 was made in a lab.https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/07/13/heres-how-scientists-know-the-coronavirus-wasnt-made-in-a-lab/ …

My own SISTER was floating this idea on Sunday. I tried to explain why not but she seems to have a short attention span. I’m the only biologist in the family , sigh

The wet market hypotheses is dead. Bats and pangolins don't share an ecosystem. Also, this article that doesn't address gain of function research or that BSL4 labs have leaked virus in the past. Not saying it's a bio weapon, but really is human error that crazy?

Yes. Yes it is, because there is nothing—I repeat, nothing—in the nucleotide sequence of #SARSCoV2 that suggests the coronavirus was engineered in the lab. This was known in March.🙄🤦‍♂️

It’s fascinating that so many feel that it matters in any practical sense. No, there is no evidence of genetic engineering. Sure it “could” have been leaked from a lab- but it doesn’t matter. Very perplexing that genetic engineering is wielded as reason not to wear a mask etc.
