Maybe someone can explain why Houston has significantly more cases of #COVID19 reported than Dallas, but nearly identical number of fatalities.pic.twitter.com/jOXGD9dmHj

What a totally reasonable and logical response that the senator will in no way understand because it’s so reasonable and logical.
IIRC, Dallas has the largest ME's office in the state. It also provides autopsy services to other locations without an ME. So probably less of a backlog there than Harris County ME, although both are going to lag.
Autopsies aren't the cause of the lag - the lag is because the virus takes multiple weeks to kill victims, *after* they have detectable symptoms. So when cases have increased significantly in the last month ... deaths are *going* to increase.
Harris county has 1.7X the population of Dallas county so the counties are testing the same per capita.

Thank you. I am angry that my fellow Americans are dying needlessly because Republicans won’t follow expert advice—because they apparently know better than generals, epidemiologists, historians, scientists, doctors & nurses.

Also, maybe Houston is screening patients more effectively or delivering care a slightly different way. What an odd premise to begin with, anyway. Apparently Corbin cut Bio classes and stats class. Smh.
This. Dallas saw a larger growth in cases than Houston early in the pandemic (March-April) while Houston is seeing a larger growth now (although both are growing a lot now). My THEORY - DFW was 1 of the 13 airports where international travelers were filtered. IAH wasn't.
