In recent nih study on macaques neutralizing antibody titers were quite variable post infection but they were all immune to symptomatic reinfection. Their titers jumped significantly after re-exposure. The re-exposure boosting was seen in two other studies of sars2 in macaques

The recent papers on T cell cross activity and the Swedish work on T cells in asymptomatic patients is interesting - and more optimistic. Still so much we don’t know but the pace of science has been pretty quick so far on this!

I heard something about this on the TWIV podcast. Can the T Cells provide long term immunity?

This fairly critical point seems to have been lost in the conversation about immunity.

Excess immune/inflammatory process, yes. But we don't understand why a small percentage of people (rising in older age groups) develop this after an important and necessary cellular immune response.
