How utterly irresponsible of @UniofOxford, this publication of results by press release. There’s not even a manuscript on a preprint server. I thought we weren’t going to do this sort of dangerous self-promotion anymore!

One explanation is that they want to wrap all arms into a giant paper. So whenever an arm get definitive answer, data will be out as a press.

Preprints exist though. And given the last 3 months of literal circus with announcements, they should know only a press release isn't a good thing. I'm pretty sure an unfinished preprint, even one that will never get published, is better than a press release at this point.

Looks like we might have another #Hydroxychloroquine-like debacle in the making. They do know, don’t they, that it’s been argued for decades whether steroids improve survival in ARDS, whatever the cause.
