so, we’re watching STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS and i still cannot figure out why the screenwriters thought it was necessary to make Cumberbatch’s character Khan

there are definitely interesting ideas in this movie, especially the exploration of starfleet’s militarism. and you could have tackled them without doing a half-assed remake of WRATH OF KHAN.

also this movie is full of post-THE DARK KNIGHT cliches, like the blue color palette and the “villain gets himself captured to advance his plan”

instead of hackishly copying the plot contrivances of the dark knight i wish screenwriters had thought “hell yeah let’s remake HEAT in a different genre” https://twitter.com/goblinscrambles/status/1271608358810730498?s=21 …https://twitter.com/Goblinsetc/status/1271608358810730498 …

anyway we’re just watching this because i haven’t seen it in awhile and i want to rewatch the whole nu-Trek trilogy. can’t wait to get to Beyond, which is easily the best of the three.

Replying to @jbouie
I was with you until this last tweet. The first nu-Trek is the best. Beyond is Star Trek recast as a Fast and Furious movie. The best parts are the new character and the repartee between Spock & McCoy but overall a disappointment.

Agree. The first of these movies was by far the best. A brilliant reboot.
