So you're saying the anonymous troll who admitted he tried to dox my wife after trying to dox me (but instead was caught posting pictures of two DIFFERENT people) deserves the respect of a real scientist?

I’m saying if he’s such a fool then Dr. Gorski should have no problem making him look like one.

If he's already a fool then why would he need to? Do you condone or condemn attempted doxxing of people and their wives?

Did you know that the troll lies about his website on his bio? He's using another pretend scientists website and pretending its his own to give him "respect." You're okay with that too?

It sounds like you have some beef with him. I’m sorry about that. I’d still like to hear the debate.

What makes pseudoscience so pernicious is that by garbing itself in scientific terminology, if not respectability, it creates the impression among lay people that legitimate scientific controversy exists where there is none.

Actual scientists are then faced with the choice of engaging conspiracists as if they were their peers, which inadvertently legitimates their utterly absurd claims, or ignore them and be accused of being unable to refute those claims. Heads denialists win, tails scientists lose.

This is exactly what
@science_cited (and every online conspiracy monger pretending to scientific understanding) does in every conversation online. And they do it because it is very convincing to outsiders who don't know the game and mistake it for reasonable discussion.2 replies 0 retweets 7 likes -

This is why mockery of silly pseudoscience is sometimes indicated.

I especially enjoy the characterization that saying someone isn't your peer is a below-the-belt insult, as opposed to a simple factual statement. I forgot everyone who can Google is an expert on everything!

That’s part of the reason I include my degrees in my Twitter bio. It drives the right people right up the wall.
