You spent a LOT of time writing a lot of really good info debunking a very stupid disinformation campaign that literally not a single person who doesn’t already know it’s disinformation will ever read, much less accept. I’m sure you also know this.

Do you know anyone who was initially pro-vaccine who then converted to antivax after hearing antivax propaganda? Ever known anyone who’s ever known anyone like this? I’m going to guess no. Again, just a hunch. People who believe this sh*t are committed to believing sh*t

These aren't 2 segregated camps. Many people are uncertain about vaccines and look for information online. If all they see is anti-vax propaganda with no debunking and no accessible, evidence-based vaccine info, they're going to more easily accept anti-vax ideas.

What are you really arguing against here? That lies don't deserve to be disproven? That people don't need factual info at a scary time? I don't understand what your point is.

I felt I was clear what my point was — the info you provided, while
% true, is preaching to the choir. You’re debunking junk science to a bunch of ppl who didn’t believe it in 1st place.
Don’t believe me? Look at the comments to your thread. 100% agreement with you. (1/2)1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

...my real point is that we don’t fight ignorance and pseudoscience by posting the info where humans’ confirmation bias won’t allow them to look or accept facts from. This message needs to be spread by the (conservative) news orgs they trust. I admire your optimism though. (2/2)

Anti-science views, while held by a tiny minority, have a very loud and vocal presence on social media. Social media is a perfect place to disseminate good info because many people use it: the majority is open to learning and the minority shouting disinfo should be drowned out.

Ok well, clearly we need to agree to disagree. What I see is a very large thread of Ppl congratulating each other on job well done, not realizing that everyone here is sitting on a boat together in the middle of the ocean shouting science facts at 2 groups: themselves, & the fish

I learn things on Twitter all the time, and well-written threads from actual experts are where I learn things on Twitter. Telling people to stop sharing useful information because you don’t think you’re the audience or you can’t understand who the audience could be is quite dumb.

It’s anti-intellectual too.

And there it is. We've reached the pt in the debate where the doctors baselessly denigrate the intelligence of their debate opponents, in this case because someone dare confront them with the idea that their words perhaps aren't as impactful as the doctors believe they are.
