I guess I'm old fashioned, but I'd prefer the development of a medication for treating Covid-19, that was, you know, designed for that specific purpose. Seems better than throwing existing medications over one's shoulder to be given to patients hoping for efficacy.
So assuming that the release of results would undermine its status of standard of care, what is likely to happen? The publishing will be delayed ad infinitum, or wait until something with actual results is available, so the bad results become second place news.
