Getting coffee in the doctors' lounge, I happened to see the part where @RandPaul said there was a lot of evidence that those who've had #COVID19 are now immune. May I suggest that he, having had the disease, volunteer for a big inoculation of #SARSCoV2 into his nasal passages?🙄https://twitter.com/christinawilkie/status/1260262044336619520 …

Dr. Fauci and Rand Paul sparred over death rates in children with #coronavirus at today's HELP hearing. Paul argued that low mortality rates in kids should bolster the case for reopening schools. Dr. Fauci was having none of that. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/12/dr-anthony-fauci-sen-rand-paul-spar-over-safety-and-death-rates-among-children-with-coronavirus.html …

I mean, he should think it'll be OK because he's recovered from #COVID19 and believes he's now immune, right?

Obviously, I'm joking, but, seriously, Rand Paul doesn't know what he's talking about. We don't know if people who recover from #COVID19 have long-lasting immunity.

Rand Paul's claim that we already have good reason to think that there is long-lasting immunity after #COVID19 is taking an question whose answer we really don't know yet and dangerously claiming that we do know and that you're safe if you've survived the disease.

We don't even know for sure yet if those who've survived #COVID19 have significant short term immunity to reinfection. There's reason to think that they probably do based on other viruses, but we just don't know yet.
