1/2: I’m sorry for my choice of pattern on the face mask I wore yesterday on the Senate floor. I did not intend to offend anyone; however, I realize that I did, and for that I am sorry. Those who know me best know that I do not support the things this pattern represents.

When asked in an interview after, u said this was a teaching moment & people need to know what that flag represents. When the reporter then provided you with that opportunity by asking you what it represents, you said the Confederacy. What you should be wearing is a dunce hat (1)

Well, the flag does represent the Confederacy. What he neglected to add was that the Confederacy represented racism, slavery, white supremacism, treason, and defeat.
