Funny how much the trial of #remdesevir reminds me of Didier Raoult's trial for #Hydroxychloroquine for #COVID19https://twitter.com/TheSGEM/status/1249707162189869066 …

Will we learn from our mistakes or repeat them with remdesivir published in @NEJM? We need good science to inform our care. Yup, it was a “media show,” not a scientific study.

Happy if it knocks off Hydroxychloroquine from the lay narrative - for one thing, it's harder to pronounce, esp by you-know-who.... 😼

I look at each health claim (study) with skepticism. It does not matter if it was published in @NEJM what matters if the evidence. I do a structured critical appraisal to test the validity of the claim. If the burden of proof is not met the claim is not accepted.pic.twitter.com/p38MQVIplS

These drugs were "donated" as a publicity stunt, or stock hyping move, to China, months ago. If there was any benefit, from any of them, the Chinese would have mentioned it. If not the Chinese the corporations that generously supplied them to the Chinese, would be advertising

Now Gilead has greatly increased the enrolment number for their RCT and softened their endpoints which means they know the drug doesn’t work as well as hoped and they need a statistically higher power - not a good omen for success for this drug.

My thoughts exactly! It's easier to appreciate the flaws or each of those papers better if you replace Hydroxychloroquine/ Remdesivir with the word s#!t-sandwich (or water if you are more charitable).
