This is what I warned about regarding all the premature hype over #Hydroxychloroquine. @EmmanuelMacron's hype has led to #COVID19 patients in France refusing to be enrolled on randomized clinical trials where they might be randomized to placebo. https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/04/france-s-president-fueling-hype-over-unproven-coronavirus-treatment …

Here's the key passage about Discover, a randomized trial being conducted in seven European countries.pic.twitter.com/Q8oLUGnRaM

I'm also going to say right now that I was sent a preprint of study currently undergoing peer review that suggests that, far from being effective, #Hydroxychloroquine might actually be harmful to some #COVID19 patients, at least critically ill ones. Stay tuned.

Honorable Doctor Sir..curious though: are YOU personally treating any Covid19 patients? You are an Oncologist I gather. So pray tell us how many patients have you prevented from going to the ICU into a ventilator or got them out for there? Thanks.

I am not sure of the relevance of this comment. If @gorskon was treating Covid patients, his anecdotes about such experiences would still not ourweigh what he is discussing here, which is actual research. Everyone who is competent to do so can read and critique the research.

Sir, it would most certainly weigh heavier if he were treating #COVID19 patients and not just digitally analyzing the report. A pharmacist or a biochemist or a trained scientist like me could also do. The doctors who are curing with #Hydroxychloroquine will command higher respect

No, the research always carries far more weight than anecdotes. Why do you say they are curing Covid cases, when there is no evidence of this?

Evidence is that they administer the drug #Hydroxychloroquine and within hours the patient is up and feeling better. A doctor treating and asserting is not proof? At least erring on the side of tons of scientific data on the safety of the drug which only has <= 10 day course

Yup. In fact those #hydroxychloroquine miracle cure stories actually are more consistent with the drug not being responsible for the patients’ improvement after one dose. The drugs don’t work that fast.

Better #Hydroxychloroquine than going to ventilator with 80% surety to die! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-8201783/Some-doctors-moving-away-ventilators-virus-patients.html …

It’s not a choice. You are going on a ventilator if it’s medically indicated. And if the patient feels better a few hours later. Then it’s very suspect. They probably would of felt better a few hours later regardless.

Listen to Democ Rep. Whitsett's story with #Hydroxychloroquine and how she got better! There's no such recovery that has happened thus far with ventilators! God forbid if you had a loved one w/ Covid19 would you give a research paper or this drug? https://youtu.be/q7e1QBawljk

Please tell that to docs actually administering the drug and seeing results in hours. Better than any chemo treatment stats. I know sir, you are an oncologist.https://youtu.be/E7PJR9clffI
