As a fellow “board-certified” doctor, I can confidently say that (1) we don’t yet know whether #Hydroxycloroquine works against #COVID19; (2) we do know enough to know that, if it does work, the effects are likely modest; and (3) you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Hydroxychloroquine was approved for medical use in the US in 1955. It must have been given in billions of doses. All of a sudden it's being found that it's toxic?

Yes-in the UK we are only using in RCT setting. The dose of HCQ suggested is higher than that used in rheumatology and can cause SE including prolong QT and arrhythmia. Our patients for the most do understand that we have no proven treatments against the virus yet.
