This is a human-to-human transmitted illness. Crowded living conditions, lack of access to medical care, and covariants like obesity mean these infections will impact those with lower socioeconomic status. I am NOT defending the status quo- but this is hardly a surprise. 1/n

We should certainly gather the data- but it is more urgent to address acute medical care and economic support for those in need. While this serves to once again highlight inequity, we cannot restructure society in 1 week/ esp. with everyone stuck at home. 2/n

My hope is that it will serve to highlight the need for universal health care and help to reverse the growing inequality in our economy- which is unjust to the less fortunate and will prove corrosive to society as a whole. 3/3
