Only in many peoples' minds. Not his show, sadly. Thought this was too good to be true...https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-dr-oz-show-renewed-for-seasons-11-and-12-through-2020-21-season/ …

Scrubs? Is he going to do surgery after he records his show?

It's a signifier. By wearing scrubs,
@DrOz is screaming, "I'm a doctor!" to his audience. The idea, of course, is to use his authority as a surgeon to enhance his credibility. It's the same reason@TravisStorkMD always wears scrubs on@TheDoctors.3 replies 3 retweets 27 likes -

Yeah, just like the status of the white coat. My LOL fave is when MDs film/photograph w/ their stethoscope worn in all sorts of non-clinical settings. IIRC, even a nature backdrop. Make me wonder what other activities they wear their scopes for: gym, sleeping at home, weddings?

Yep. It's the same reason that naturopaths frequently appear in photographs wearing stethoscopes, to falsely claim the authority of real doctors. I call it cosplaying real doctors.https://respectfulinsolence.com/2018/10/09/dugald-seely-cosplaying-a-real-oncologist-to-test-naturopathic-oncology-snake-oil/ …

Of course, as far as specialties go, surgeons like to call the stethoscope draped around a doctor's neck a "flea collar." The reason is that surgeons generally don't do that; internists (a.k.a. "fleas”) do. Even @DrOz doesn't drape a stethoscope around his neck.
