Yeah, just like the status of the white coat. My LOL fave is when MDs film/photograph w/ their stethoscope worn in all sorts of non-clinical settings. IIRC, even a nature backdrop. Make me wonder what other activities they wear their scopes for: gym, sleeping at home, weddings?

Yep. It's the same reason that naturopaths frequently appear in photographs wearing stethoscopes, to falsely claim the authority of real doctors.
