I'm curious. Was there ever any particular reason to believe that hydroxychloroqine and chloroquine would be effective against COVID-19? It seems like a random choice to my non-medical mind.

As far as I understand, this belief was based on observations that there were no lupus patients (who were treated with HCQ) infected with SARS-CoV-2. Of course, this might as well mean that lupus patients were especially peculiar with personal hygiene.

From what I've read from docs reporting on the front lines, they're already doing that plus Zithromax anyway. Any old empiric therapy in a storm, I guess. Or the worst episode of 'House' ever.

People like me (immunosuppressed on immunotherapy and chemo) are the most likely to do everything we supposed to do - following rules like champs. No way the results aren’t skewed in this patient population.
