So far no proof it isn’t effective. When its life and death and the treatment is relatively safe with growing anecdotal successes and no other treatment options, nothing to lose. Death is irreversible.

No you don’t need an IRB for any off label prescribing. It’s a physicians prerogative for whom he prescribes it for and for what indication. Do you treat seriously ill patients or any medical patients at all. You sound like a researcher.
