Actually, that story is good evidence that it wasn't hydroxychloroquine that saved him. He got better very quickly after just one dose, and that's not how these drugs work. We would not expect such a fast action. He almost certainly just got better on his own.

#COVID19 activity. It's certainly plausible that it might. But there isn't yet any good published clinical evidence that it does. It might also cause harm because of its immunosuppressive effect. THAT's also why randomized trials are needed. -
