I think Ioannidis does cherry pick and turns a bit of a blind eye to the Italy situation, but his thesis about making policy and personal decisions with little reliable data is fraught with its own problems. Worth reading whether you agree or not.

Indeed. Northern Italy, about half way through the outbreak if the stats from Asia are followed, has had a quarter of the total deaths the USA should expect. Nah. Can't see it. Sorry, John. But of course this is one time I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.

I’d be overjoyed if Ioannidis is correct and I’m not. However, his estimate for the case fatality rate just seems cherry picked to be way low.
