I didn’t tweet out John Ioannidis’ piece on STAT yesterday, because - while I respect his views on other issues - his take on #covid19 seemed to miss some pretty important points. Opinion pieces are by nature one-sided and it’s not a great format in a deadly outbreak.

Ioannidis’ take is the very epitome of what I like to call “methodolotry,” the obscene worship of only the highest forms of evidence (e.g., the double blind, placebo-controlled RCT). The problem is, in the real world we don’t have the luxury to wait for such high quality data.
