It's also going to show up as a really dumb-ass flex in a few weeks when seniors start dropping like flies in under-regulated and under-inspected care homes across the US. Sorry, but y'all are even less prepared for this than we are and I'm absolutely dreading what's coming.

I think the point (well, at least my point) is that simply having a single payer system is not sufficient here—it’s not even super relevant, compared to other emergency response, capacity scale-ups, testing, and preventative measures. That’s not to say it’s counterproductive.
