Isn't there a huge unknown in the denominator though? Deaths are noted, but a person with mild-no symptoms may never get diagnosed. Does this not create a problematic selection bias in any of the data sets, particularly if the virus is already as widespread as is being suggested?

A death rate in 65+ year olds of 15% *of tested patients* is still fucking high, especially given how infectious this is. I kinda like my parents. I don't like those odds.
