Hi, I'm a trauma and emergency surgeon. You may know me from my hits “Hey, have you ever been shot before?”, “No, the appendix is better taken out than treated with abx,” and the chart-topping “You really shouldn’t improvise in this area, please always use toys with a flange.”https://twitter.com/JJcolemanMD/status/1234292908406165505 …

In case people think I’m being flippant, no, this is a PSA - always be safe and use purpose-built toys. It’s no ones business what you do, shame and fear of human sexual expression drive risky DIY, and injury is preventable. It should always be safe to be yourself.

As for the bullets, welcome to America where gun violence has become so routine people are often shot a 2nd or 3rd time and have retained bullets that interfere with my bullet math and trajectory interpretation. If you see scars/prior exlap on survey ask them about it.

My wife is a pediatric NP, and she has lots of patients who have family members who've been shot or who've been shot themselves. It's unbelievable.
