"To me it seems" is the problem. The fact is that measles outbreaks occur *everywhere*, including in the United States. What you think is true is, in fact, wrong.

Antivaxxers love to invoke hygiene over vaccines. Both are important tools, but hygiene alone won’t control a disease like measles that’s highly transmissible through airborne respiratory droplets that can hang in the air for two hours. Only an effective vaccine will.

I also think a lot of them use "poor hygiene" as coded language for places with a lot of people of color.
