I tried it. There is no way I could eat 500 calories 2 days a week long term. If others can, awesome.https://twitter.com/CaulfieldTim/status/1229505647051296768 …

I've lost more than 20 pounds and huge strides controlling my blood sugar with portion control. IF might be better for some people, but it isn't for me.

Portion control, calorie counting, and exercise have allowed me to drop over 40 lbs. in a year and a half. Now that I’ve finally hit my target weight, things are getting...interesting...as I try to figure out how much I can eat without starting to gain the weight back.

Yep. Took off 40 by the same method. 20 crept back on over two years. Got that stopped, now pushing to go down again. Am going to have to be forever vigilant.

Basically same story for me. Constant vigilance but also trying to not be so restrictive.

I started buying new clothes that actually fit me now as motivation not to slack off. I dropped 4-5" on waist size for pants, and all my old pants now fit me like 1980s parachute pants. All my old belts are too long.

Don't get me wrong. This is a good problem to have, far better than when my wife would periodically notice that my pants were getting tight and buy me new ones one waist size larger.

I've kept my older pairs of trousers in hope that one day I will get motivation and act tonreverse middle age spread. The alternative is hoping to make wizened old age and they'll fit that way.

I was thinking of donating my old large pants as a means of further motivation (burning bridges behind me), but I'm not yet confident enough that I won't gain the weight back to do that. Keeping them is a hedge.
