I tried it. There is no way I could eat 500 calories 2 days a week long term. If others can, awesome.https://twitter.com/CaulfieldTim/status/1229505647051296768 …

"The Benefits of Intermittent Fasting" https://nyti.ms/37vaNsV  cc @GidMK @YoniFreedhoff Skeptical re all trends(!), keeping an open mind. Interesting research emerging. But sustainable? Long term benefits/risks? Re weight loss, some data suggest no better than other approaches.

I've lost more than 20 pounds and huge strides controlling my blood sugar with portion control. IF might be better for some people, but it isn't for me.

Portion control, calorie counting, and exercise have allowed me to drop over 40 lbs. in a year and a half. Now that I’ve finally hit my target weight, things are getting...interesting...as I try to figure out how much I can eat without starting to gain the weight back.

Yep. Took off 40 by the same method. 20 crept back on over two years. Got that stopped, now pushing to go down again. Am going to have to be forever vigilant.

Basically same story for me. Constant vigilance but also trying to not be so restrictive.

I started buying new clothes that actually fit me now as motivation not to slack off. I dropped 4-5" on waist size for pants, and all my old pants now fit me like 1980s parachute pants. All my old belts are too long.

Did that too. Can still get into them, but the tight waist is impetus for the walk! Never stopped by daily weigh-in. Helps me moderate.pic.twitter.com/7tRbBgFYS9

Don't get me wrong. This is a good problem to have, far better than when my wife would periodically notice that my pants were getting tight and buy me new ones one waist size larger.😂

There is this magical tool called a leather punch. I've been able to keep older belts I liked by adding a few holes. (Of course, most of my belts are web style, no holes. Labs are not known as hotbeds of fashion.)
