I tried it. There is no way I could eat 500 calories 2 days a week long term. If others can, awesome.https://twitter.com/CaulfieldTim/status/1229505647051296768 …

I've lost more than 20 pounds and huge strides controlling my blood sugar with portion control. IF might be better for some people, but it isn't for me.

Portion control, calorie counting, and exercise have allowed me to drop over 40 lbs. in a year and a half. Now that I’ve finally hit my target weight, things are getting...interesting...as I try to figure out how much I can eat without starting to gain the weight back.

Portion control and giving myself enough time to eat in (ie: not being in a hurry) have done wonders.

One thing today really helped was bringing lunch to work and not going to the food court every day, as I did for far too long. It’s much cheaper, too.

Calorie counting and portion control (specifically, weighing food) has let me drop 10lbs since xmas despite somewhat less exercise due to a conga line of colds and flus.

Ha! That’s even more hard core than me! I don’t go so far as to weigh my food...👍

I’ve lost and kept off about 200 pounds ~4 years, so if I may, the method I’ve found is eating as seems reasonable to me, tracking the calories, weighing in once a week, and then adjusting my “reasonable” for the next week. Congrats, goal weight is an awesome feeling!

Yep. Took off 40 by the same method. 20 crept back on over two years. Got that stopped, now pushing to go down again. Am going to have to be forever vigilant.

Basically same story for me. Constant vigilance but also trying to not be so restrictive.

As someone with Type II, IF just isn't a reality for me. If I try and carve carbs below my usual 60g per meal, I feel weak by mid-day. Fasting isn't possible. It's all about lifestyle. I eat better, but I also have to supplement that with exercise/activities.

I need to lose about 40lbs myself. I start running last September, dropped beer, and thought the weight would melt off. Now I am up to 4 miles nonstop running (usually 10 miles a week cumulatively), and feel great for it, but haven't lost a single pound! Calorie counting time.

One thing I learned when I started riding a bicycle for exercise is that exercise doesn't burn nearly as many calories as people think it does. I went your route, riding 15-20 miles three times a week, sometimes more, and I lost no significant weight for over a year.
