1960, Kennedy v. Nixon. I was in elementary school. All the girls at my bus stop liked Kennedy and the boys liked Nixon.

In ‘72 My mother was an elector for Nixon If Nixon “won” we would get to go to Richmand and watch my Mother cast her vote for Nixon If McGovern did, she didn’t get to go It was exciting
There was a faithless elector
They roll called, much to my 7 year old indignation

I remember that. I also remember in 1972 the school having a Presidential election lesson in which the school voted in a sham election Nixon v McGovern. Weirdly I don't recall who won in the sham election but I do recall Nixon being elected in the real one.

1968. I was sheltered from news of the riots at Democratic National Convention in Chicago, but I remember Humphrey, Nixon, Robert Kennedy (& his assassination), Gene McCarthy . . . My brother's class had a mock election in which they explored all the major candidates.

I have very dim memories of Johnson running in 1964, but not sure I remember Goldwater.
