Osteopathy is an ACGME approved residency in the United States. Approved by American Medical Association.

It is now, but it was invented as bunk.

Nope. Gen Surgery, Ortho, OBGYN, PEDS, PM&R, Internal Medicine all consult them often. They are all very happy with their results. Hospitals and Private Equity has noticed decreased cost with their services. Here to stay.

You're still using the present tense. I'm not sure if you are an evasive apologist for pseudoscience or if you just don't read well.

I think there’s a distinction between osteopathy (which is alternative medicine) and osteopathic medicine.

Yes, and osteopathy is a holdover. It’s still taught in osteopathic medical schools, but most DOs abandon it as soon as they graduate in favor of training in conventional medical/surgical residencies.

In the US, perhaps. Indeed, here the two boards overseeing osteopathic residencies and Medical residencies even merged recently. However, this is not necessarily true in much of the rest of the work.

Outside of the US, DOs often resemble chiropractors than MDs. I often have to remind British and European skeptics calling DOs quacks that in the US MDs and DOs are equivalent and do the same residency training.

Similarly, I sometimes have to remind US skeptics that outside North America DOs are a lot more like chiropractors, hence the disdain for them by skeptics outside of the US.
