T. Rex should’ve been in the Hall 20 years ago. It’s also still a travesty that Jethro Tull is not in the Hall.https://twitter.com/RMCarpiano/status/1217524633085169664 …

Well, Elton John is in there, and at least his stuff doesn't remind me of a 1960s washing machine thrashing away. Tull's omission is a bit odd, but then they weren't really mainstream.

No, it's a travesty that Tull isn't in the Hall. They were groundbreaking, popular, and definitely mainstream. In fact, I was shocked when I read David's post. I just assumed they were in (and had been for quite some time).

Also, they were largely influential in prog rock, particularly the more acoustic, English folk/pastoral vein of prog. Just because a band doesn’t feature a flute doesn’t mean it wasn’t influenced by Tull. There was more to Tull than Ian Anderson’s flute.

Also little known is that Tull was one of the earliest big bands to bring theatricality to rock. Their tour for “Thick as a Brick” was truly bizarre, complete with characters from the album and comedy sketches between songs.

Now put all that down on paper & send it to the RRHoF.

They know. They’ve just had a bias against prog from the beginning. Look how long it took for Yes to finally get in, for example.

ELP are still not in. Neither are King Crimson. I've never really considered Kansas to be a prog band (although that's how they tend to be labeled), but they're not in either. Yes, heavy anti-prog bias.

Indeed. It's a travesty that ELP, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, and (maybe less so) Kansas are not in

There are currently only four prog bands who've been inducted into
@rockhall: Yes, Rush, Genesis, and Pink Floyd, and Yes was inducted long after they should have been. There's definitely a serious bias against prog.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Indeed, a lot of it seems to do with Jann Wenner of the @rockhall Foundation, who has an outsized influence on who gets nominated and who gets in.https://www.loudersound.com/features/yes-nomination-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-hates-prog …

Everybody: Listen to these amazing songs, this amazing body of work! Jann Wenner: Are the songs longer than 4 minutes? Everybody: . . . . Jann: NOPE!! NEXT!!

The Hall Of Fame still has a problem with Blue Öyster Cult as well. Phillistines.
