The Video Vixen is attempting to refute my statement that she's not a nurse. She's not a nurse. Hot tip: If you want to keep your identity a secret, don't share PDFs with your full name in the web address. 😉pic.twitter.com/6NpoCWG4ua

Actually, she is a nurse. She’s just not licensed. I hate this particular provaccine trope. Andrew Wakefield is still a physician, just delicensed. Not having a license doesn’t change your being a nurse or doctor.

This trope annoys me because it was weaponized against Stephen Barrett by quacks for years and years and years and years after he retired and let his license lapse, as many retired physicians do.

It wasn’t valid when used against Dr. Barrett. We shouldn’t use it against antivaxxers.😡

Being a nurse or a doctor makes embracing antivaccine pseudo science worse on several levels. It’s a betrayal of duty, and it gives you additional clout that these people abuse in the service of misinformation. I agree that we cannot deny their background and think we shouldn’t.

I wonder how you can learn the scientific method, how journal peer review works, and attend the courses you have to attend, to become a healthcare professional, and then deny science.

I've had this conversation a few times. Words matter. I went to school & graduated 2nd in my class as a CDA. I was a CDA, I am not currently a CDA. She has no reason, other than appealing to own authority, for wearing scrubs to the capital or calling herself Sandra RN on FB.

So don’t say she isn’t a nurse. That is lying. Say she’s unlicensed. She IS. A nurse, however. We shouldn’t lie about that.

I WAS a certified law enforcement officer through the state of Minnesota. My certification would need to be upgraded and recertified if I wanted to practice law enforcement. I cannot represent myself as a law enforcement officer.

Thank you. I'm retired but I will always feel like I'm a nurse. Although am increasingly finding a lot of new knowledge and research has ovetaken me. I just found ou the other day that the radial approach is now preferred for coronary angiograms.
