Ugh. There’s no evidence that open office plans increase collaboration and productivity. What they do do is make it hard to concentrate (so many distractions) and eliminate any privacy. There’s a reason workers hate them. This is the White House, not a trading pit.https://twitter.com/MikeBloomberg/status/1211781268922359810 …

As president, I'll turn the East Room into an open office plan, where I’ll sit with our team. I’ll use the Oval Office for some official functions – never for tweeting – but the rest of the time, I’ll be where a leader should be: with the team. http://politi.co/2tbPhLl  pic.twitter.com/jLwWKJCmxw

Oh, there's definitely collaboration going on here. They're collaborating on drinking because this is Trump's social media response team and g-dammit do they need to share alcohol to get through the day.

I think he's trying to copy Trump. One big point he and his supporters were trumpeting around before was his being a businessman. His non-political way of seeing things would bring a fresh wind, yadda yadda. Bloomberg is trying to look more business-like.

Mmmm no, this is Bloomberg's thing. He had an open office during his mayoral administration and now institutes it in his offices (and has his own desks in the middle of it all). He literally has office buildings full of this. He's not trying to look more anything, just being him.
