Of course, all I ever see from MDs and DOs ranting about how bad the care that NPs provide is are anecdotes. They can't even produce evidence at this level of quality to back their claims.https://twitter.com/DocStrange_1/status/1211287105004920832 …

It’s funny you use this article as a source, because it’s what I would use to counter your claims of equivalent care: low strength of evidence, medium to high risk of bias. It really drives home the point that some (you?) have difficulty reading beyond headlines. pic.twitter.com/dHjwmz1Unq

Abscence of evidence is not evidence of abscence. At some point, less training=worse outcomes, otherwise we might as well send EMTs to do cancer surgery. The question is, at what point and in what roles do those worse outcomes start?

That is a bit of a silly analogy. EMTs would be working out if their scope of practice by providing surgery (as would any non-surgically trainer MD for that matter). NPs work within a scope of practice.

Indeed. My wife, for instance, is a pediatric NP. Her scope of practice is confined to people under 21. Once a patient of hers turns 21, she can't see that patient any more.

And I'm sure she provides outstanding care for her patients. But what about an NP who just finished a BSN, then goes straight into their NP (maybe working part time as a med-surg nurse), and arranges their own peds clinical experience by shadowing?

They too may become a pediatric or psychiatric NP. Are they as qualified as your wife for the roles they can be employed for?

that is a bit confusing, because as a pediatrician, I can still see patients over 21.
