I’ve been left largely untouched by the arxiv revolution. I’d like to know—anyone can scrounge up a compendium of nonsense with poor methodology & no corroborating evidence, call it ‘research’, submit it to arxiv & start to hawk the link as a legit study, no review required?!

I don’t know. Fortunately biomedical research has not been much affected by this “revolution,” either.

The number of important papers I read on that platform is negligible. In biomedical, clinically oriented research, it’s still pretty old school. Other than open access, not much has changed since the web allowed PDFs of papers to be distributed online.

Yes, but we have another problem, the proliferation of predatory open access journals.
