I used to think I would always be my older brother's best friend. He drifted to conservatism and then he and his wife went full trump. I feel for you.

Also, I had a high school friend, lifelong, seemingly. We’ve known each other over 40 years. He remained a staunch conservative, even as I gradually became disillusioned with the GOP and finally renounced it for good after the invasion of Iraq, we remained friends.

Then came Trump. My friend started out not supporting him. (I forget which other candidate he supported in the primaries.) However, as it became clear that Trump would win the

Now, we almost never see each other any more, and, the last time we did, politics was off-limits, for me at least, because I didn’t want to get into it with him and his other friends who were at the same gathering. So I sat and stewed. He’s still a big-time Trump supporter.
