Apparently, I upset some bigots today. Fortunately, the settings for my Twitter notifications are tuned such that I’ve only barely noticed.

Among them is one whose skeptical writings I’d long admired before my blog took off, whose writings about alternative medicine inspired me 15 years ago, whom I drank with a couple of years ago in Manchester.

Why don't you go out with him for another drink, David? You might learn something.

It's not bigotry to say that humans cannot change sex. Nor is it bigotry to say that predatory men will take advantage of self-id to access vulnerable women & that safeguarding issues need to be properly considered. The current situation is bad for transpeople as well as women.
-
It is bigoted because except for those of us who undergo expensive & invasive surgeries, we are changing our gender & not our sex Men don't self-ID as women--women do. Transwomen experience some of the highest rates of violence, so yes the current situation is bad for women

I'm really disappointed to see you using abusive slurs instead of honestly debating. Trans people deserve rights, and so do women - arguing against having their rights taken away is not bigotry.

Saying "sex is real" is not scepticism. Questioning your qualification as an MD and PhD, however, is. And rightly so. You should not be allowed near patients, let alone perform surgeries on them, when you don't understand fundamental human biology.
