I'm reading up about Lynn Margulis right now and honestly can I just read about a woman scientist without hearing about how "mothering" or "nurturing" she is? I never read men described as "paternal" in their bios. While we're at it can we also eliminate "she was a force"

Ummmm... Agree about the stereotype but you're also aware about how she went off the rails at the end? HIV denial and more?

Yep, though I'm trying to find more of the details (one of the reason I'm reading up on her). The bio I'm currently reading says "she courted controversy until the end," a clear euphamism IMO but that's why one needs multiple sources.

I'll dig up my old blog posts.

I've written about Jennifer Margulis, an antivaxxer, but I don't remember ever having written about Lynn Margulis.
