Antivaxxers’ appeals to “parental rights” and rants against “government overreach” have, unfortunately, been very successful, which is why the loudest antivax voices these days are overwhelmingly right wing.

Indeed, so successful has this messaging been that appeals to “parental rights” and “health freedom” are now dog whistles for the antivaccine movement.

I really wonder how effective that is though in building a crowd. Empirical q. But when you don't have science, you have to try something. And in the end, numbers matter less than perception of #'s/impact when lobbying politicians who will then pander ("I'm for vaccines, but...")
