Yep. I Iost 35 lbs. and counting over the last year or so by ruthlessly counting calories using and app (and exercising). Before I got serious about calorie counting after half assing it, I’d lost maybe 5 lbs. over the year before at best just exercising.https://twitter.com/nonprophetess/status/1204507683803414528 …

As a test, i went back to counting calories (something I learned around age 10) for a month, knowing i had dr's appts at either end & could be weighed. I live alone & eat my own cooking. i weighed & measured everything. According to the app, i should have lost 10 lbs. Gained 2.

So, basically, the apps aren't always accurate in estimating caloric need or intake. I could counter with my example, for which my rate of weight loss has until recently been very close to the rate the app estimated that it should be.

The recent slowdown in the rate of my weight loss is probably because I'm within ~5 lbs. of my target weight and have probably been unconsciously loosening up a bit. But I'm still losing weight, just not as fast as three months ago.
