An antivaxxer answers my question: "Which vaccine(s) do you consider sufficiently safe and effective to recommend in general for children without a medical contraindication?" At least this one was honest and didn't try to dance around the question to avoid answering, as most do. https://twitter.com/dtrigger/status/1202818571111321600 …

I wonder whether it's clear to her that, according to her statement, whatever "injury" vaccines cause, it's reversible?

Well...yes? I would absolutely call that reversible...? And I'd hope everybody else too, otherwise we need to hand out some dictionaries.

So what if a baby has a brain tumor? Should we operate to remove the tumor or avoid potentially curative surgery because surgery isn't risk free?

I have a better example: A child with a treatable lymphoma. I've written about such children who have a 90% chance of survival with treatment and 0% without whose parents refuse chemotherapy. That is medical neglect, and parents don't have the right to neglect their children.

👍 I was involved in a case where a child had retinoblastoma which needed enucleation. His dad refused as he wanted to try alternatives so the eye doc organised a court order to proceed with the op. Dad then fled to Thailand with his son, allowing the tumor to spread to the brain

The child died. I think anybody with a shred of decency would agree that living with one eye is a lot better than dying before your second birthday with two...

Wrong, I am filled with self doubt all the time, the practice of medicine ("practice" here doesn't mean what you think it means) is constantly changing and good doctors should be constantly acquiring new knowledge to improve their practice.
